Barbican Hardware

We had such a great experience at Barbican Carpet and Flooring. They have an amazing selection of carpets like sisal , wood , synthetic , from top brands like Cormar, Alternative Flooring, Westex, and London Elements, plus many more. It was really helpful to see so many styles and colours in one place. They also stock a wide range of engineered and solid wood flooring, as well as luxury vinyl flooring like Amtico, which gave me plenty of options to choose from. The quality is excellent and the team were so knowledgeable, helping me pick the perfect floor for my home near Old Street. Highly recommend if you’re looking for carpets or flooring in Barbican, Old Street, Clerkenwell, or Islington – a proper one-stop shop for everything

Rating: 5/5 Title: Five out of Five Stars – Proper local hardware, with actual human help I have been in here several times for small DIY jobs and one slightly more ambitious project, and it has quickly become my default local hardware shop. The range is impressively broad for the size, covering everything from basic fixings and paint to electrical and plumbing supplies, and if something is not in stock they are genuinely proactive about ordering it in. What really sets the place apart, though, is the staff. They are patient, knowledgeable, and happy to talk through options rather than just point at a shelf. On one visit they even let me use a tool on the bench rather than selling me something I did not need, which says a lot. It feels like a shop that understands its neighbourhood and the people in it. Reliable, friendly, and refreshingly old-school in the best way.

What lovely people. They helped me with a purchase I bought online thinking I didn't have all the parts. I did. They showed me how to put it together and I bought them some chocolates to say thank you. Really makes you realise why we shouldn't do all our purchases online. Surely theres a way for a public/private partnership to keep these places thriving. Not just surviving. Maybe a skill teaching session. They also beat my carpet quote from carpetright so they will be doing my place in the new year. The carpet selection is best price and great quality!

Been to this store a few times as it's very conveniently located and well stocked. But what impressed me the most was the service. I was buying small not very expensive items but the staff still took care to give me great advice. For example, I was looking for kitchen plinth clips and it looked like those were sold out, but they went through stock and found a bag that was dropped on the floor by previous customers. I also bought a DIY tool and they clearly sensed I looked lost, so asked me if I knew how to use it and took time to explain what I needed to do, which was super helpful. Thank you and I will be back!

George was extremely helpful and professional. Nothing was too small or trivial, and nothing felt too big to solve — he approached everything with the same care and attention. He patiently worked through my issue step by step, explained things clearly, and made sure it was properly sorted. Polite, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful. Great customer service — a real credit to the shop.
