Important notice
FixNear is a marketplace platform and does not provide services directly. We are not responsible for the quality of work performed by listed businesses or tradespeople. Contracts for work are between members and service providers; FixNear facilitates introduction and communication only, except where we explicitly offer a separate paid platform feature governed by its own terms.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage and pixel tags. They help the site remember your preferences, keep you signed in securely, and (where you agree) understand how the site is used.
2. How we use cookies on FixNear
We group cookies and similar technologies into the following categories:
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the Platform to function. They include, for example, session cookies that maintain your login state, security and anti-forgery tokens (such as CSRF protection), load-balancing or performance cookies, and cookies that remember essential privacy or consent choices. These do not require consent under UK rules, but you can still block them through your browser; parts of the Platform may then not work correctly.
2.2 Functional cookies
These help us remember choices you make (such as language or display preferences) and improve usability. Where they are not strictly necessary, we will only use them if you consent through our cookie banner or settings.
2.3 Analytics and performance
These help us understand aggregate traffic, errors, and feature usage so we can improve reliability and design. We only enable non-essential analytics cookies if you choose “Accept all” (or equivalent) on our cookie banner. If you choose “Essential only”, we minimise optional analytics and do not use consent-based analytics cookies.
2.4 Marketing cookies
We do not use third-party advertising cookies by default. If we introduce marketing or social pixels in future, we will list them here and request consent before they are set, unless they are strictly necessary.
3. Consent
When you first visit FixNear, you will see a cookie banner allowing you to accept essential cookies only, accept all optional cookies we describe, or review this policy. Your choice is stored locally on your device (for example in browser storage) so we do not have to ask on every visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing site data for FixNear or by using the controls we provide alongside the banner where available.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Use your browser’s help menu to learn how. Blocking all cookies may prevent sign-in or security features from working. For independent guidance, see ICO guidance on cookies.
5. Third-party content
Some pages may embed third-party content (for example a payment provider or video). Those providers may set their own cookies governed by their policies. We encourage you to read their privacy and cookie notices.
6. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when our practices change. The “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly. Significant changes may be highlighted on the Platform.
7. Contact
Questions about cookies or this policy can be sent via our Support page or the contact details in the footer. For broader data protection questions, see our Privacy Policy.
